Physical Exam & Wellness Screening
for a fraction of the Price!
Most dogs and cats are considered "seniors" by the age of seven years old (5 years old for giant breed dogs). While our older pets may seem healthy on the outside, they can actually be experiencing age related conditions which can significantly shorten their lives. Once our pets reach senior status, comprehensive physical examinations are recommended every 6 months to detect diseases such as dental disease, cataract formation, and osteoarthritis. In addition, yearly blood work is recommended to screen for common age-related diseases such as early kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and anemia. By catching these diseases early we can be proactive instead of reactive. With proper treatment and intervention, we can slow down progression of disease. In some instances, we are able to stop progression all together and lengthen the quality time we have with our pets.

While our senior pets can't collect Social Security, they can take advantage of an awesome deal during Senior Pet Month. The St Tammany Humane Society Veterinary Hospital is offering Senior Wellness Screenings (Complete Blood Count, Blood Chemistry, Thyroid hormone testing, and Urinalysis) for $95 (regular price is $176). Call to schedule your senior pet's check up today!
Please print and fill out the senior pet checklist (below) prior to your visit as it will help our veterinarian's identify potential problem areas that need to be addressed.
