Opportunities for Children

If you're a kid and you love animals, then you've found the right spot! The St. Tammany Humane Society has a variety of purr-fect ways for kids to get involved with helping animals!

If you are 12 - 15 years of age, you might consider volunteering along with an adult guardian!

If you are under the age of 12, here are some ideas to get involved:
  • Decorate adoption kennels at STHS
  • Raise funds by having a lemonade stand in your neighborhood
  • Ask for donations for your birthday!
  • Get your scout troop involved
  • Collect donations at school during the holidays
  • Save & Donate your allowance!

If you've got a birthday coming up and would like to celebrate in the company of a few furry critters, click here to find out how you can have your birthday party at the St. Tammany Humane Society!

At STHS, kids play an important role in making our community a kinder, safer place. We look forward to your involvement!

 Featured Humane Helpers

Miss Abbi celebrated her 8th birthday at the shelter.  Not only did she have her party here, she also collected over $100 and lots of goodies for the homeless pets!
Children from the 4-H Club came to the shelter to help walk dogs, socilize cats, and decorated the kennels with Adopt Me signs! Bodzie (the pup in the picture) couldn't get enough of their attention!

The YAP Club at Lake Harbor Middle School collected over 600 lbs. of dog/cat food for the St. Tammany Humane Society.  Adoptable dog, Nacho came by to thank all the kids!

Way to Go!

A BIG thanks to the students at Pontchartrain Elementary School for hosting a holiday donation drive at school!  They donated a whole truck full of presents for our shelter pets.

Meet Ava, Adelyn, and Laney. Each of these girls sponsored a shelter pet's adoption fee as their Christmas present from their aunt! Jake, Anastasia, and Dirk's adoptions are now paid for by these 3 generous girls! Way to go!
