How you can Help

How You Can Help
There are several ways you can help save lives:

  • Give a home to one or more of our dogs and cats. Adopt today!
  • Be sure to spay/neuter your companion animals. Besides reducing the population of homeless animals, there are many health benefits associated with sterilization.
  • With no government funding, we operate on the donations of our supporters. You may give to our general fund allowing us to use the funds where they are needed at the time, or you may choose a program or event you find essential to sponsor.
  • We are always in need of volunteers. Some of the opportunities available are foster parenting, off site adoption workers, dog walkers, fundraisers and many more.
  • Have your pet implanted with a microchip so that he can be identified as your pet should he ever become lost. This will help fewer animals enter our doors, and when they do, we will be able to get them home more quickly.

One paragraph in your will....... can help provide shelter for innocent animals even when you are no longer here.

If you are considering a charitable bequest to the St. Tammany Humane Society, here are some facts:

  • What is a bequest? A bequest is a gift made through a will, including a bequest of a specific dollar amount, a percentage or residue or your estate, a final contingency beneficiary,  or a combination of these.  Remember: the language necessary to accomplish your wishes is highly technical and should be prepared by your attorney.
  • Modest bequests are valued and welcomed in immediate support of the St. Tammany Humane Society; Larger gifts establish or contribute to endowmnets which will last indefinately.  Endowments assure that the programs of the humane society will continue to be provided for in the future, even when you are no longer here.
  • If you choose a larger gift, contact your investment advisor who will set up a courtesy account with the St. Tammany Humane Society
  • If your gift is made before the end of the year, it may help reduce your federal income tax, and provide you with a tax savings

Making a gift to the St. Tammany Humane Society during your lifetime or through your will is one of the most gratifying acts a person can perform.  You know that your gift will go on to support the future of the St. Tammany Humane Society and its efforts to give homes to loving animals.

Who We Are

The St. Tammany Humane Society is the only non-profit animal sheltering and welfare organization serving St. Tammany parish, and as such, we rely primarily on the assistance of the community we serve to care for the more than 1,000 orphaned pets that enter our shelter each year.

We offer a variety of services and have developed several programs to give these companion animals a second chance and a new leash on life.

Please take some time to dig in to the site and see what we’ve got to wag our tail about.
