Meet Marilyn Gonzalez 2011 must have been the most inspiring year for me. I Joined club 2011 to help raise awareness on animals looking for their forever homes and turned out to be one of the best years of my life. Not only did I raise over $5,000 dollars but entering 2012 with some AMAZING friends and people in my life, all because i made a decision to give back. St.Tammany needs us more than ever so why not continue supporting the shelter and do my best to top my 2011 goal. Thats why im back again to try my best to raise awareness for the shelter and continue my fight to raise as much money as I can to help Ian's hometown shelter! I am greatful to be a part of such an AMAZING group of people at the shelter! Let the fundraising begin...Bring it 2012! ;) |

Meet Deborah I live in Tampa, FL and am a married mom of 3 human and 4 furry kitty children. We are proud to say that all of them are rescues (the kitties not the humans :). Like most of us, what led me to St Tammany's Humane Society was Ian Somerhalder. I very quickly found that he was not just another pretty face but we shared some of the same wonderful ideals for protecting our environment, wildlife and animals. I love animals with all of my heart and soul. As a result of my "research", I found out about STHS. I have fallen in love with the St. Tammany Humane Society and their mission. After speaking with the staff, I was deeply touched. And then, seeing and reading about groups like Pause For A Cause, Paws 2 Make A Difference, Defenders and Warriors, Vampire Support (please forgive me for leaving others out...there are so many of you) it made me want to participate even more. My family and I are also proud supporters of Children's Home Society (Daytona Beach), Ormond Memorial Art Museum and our children's private school's Performing/Fine Arts program. Currently, Deborah has raised $2012 |

Meet Marilyn Lewis Neenan I am a wife and mother and am currently the Sr. Executive Assistant to the Sr. VP & Chief Quality Officer at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee. I grew up in a small Arkansas delta town and have had animals all my life. My husband and I have one daughter, and three dogs, (Maggie a Golden Retriever, Riley a Yellow Lab and Samantha a Terrier mix). We have one grand dog living with our daughter in east Tennessee, a Pit Bull named Hank she found injured and wandering the streets of Biloxi, Mississippi a few years ago. My favorite place in the world: the Northern Outer Banks of North Carolina. I live for the two weeks we spend there every year as well as the few days I can spend at Unleashed. Last year I was able to rasie over $2,000 for the shelter and hope to be able to do that again this year! Currently, for Unleashed! 2012, Marilyn has raised $1012. |

Meet Toni & Roxana My name is Toni and my friend, Roxana. We live in Marrero, Louisiana. Our friendship began while employed at Semco, which we still are. Even though we have known each other for about 5 years, we have developed a most excellent friendship. Our friendship has grown even stronger since we both have similar interests and most of all we are both lovers of animals. Knowing that we share this beautiful planet with the many life forms and being the most intelligent of all life forms, we are curators for Mother Nature. We acknowledge this and do our very best to act accordingly. Wildlife is fascinating and self sufficient as long as man does not invade or interfere. These animals deserve our respect and admiration for their place in our world; however it is not the same with domesticated animals. They depend on humans for their survival. They require nurturing. They require our protection. When a person decides to welcome a pet into their home, that pet becomes a family member. Our beloved pets require attention and love. When we shower our pet with love, we get so much love in return. You can see the happiness in their eyes that is so heartwarming. A pet truly loves unconditionally. When we hear of an animal being abused, it hurts us so bad that the hurt turns into anger. We become outraged! Someone MUST speak for the animals. These earthly creatures who, when allowed, give so much and ask for so little in return. The word 'animal' is a latin word 'animalis'; which means with souls. That is why Roxy and I stand strong, side by side, on behalf of the animals. Curently, Toni & Roxana have raised $212 |

Meet Kathleen Trieschmann I am a native Missourian with a lifelong interest in animals, the arts and preserving the health of our planet. New Orleans has always been special to me because my aunt was a nun for the Sisters of Notre Dame and spent her life in that unique city. She frequently sent me Mardi Gras beads, engraining in me a love of glitter! I also make and sell jewelry and donate the money to St. Tammany's. I had not visited NOLA since her death (pre Katrina) and the 2010 and 2011 fundraisers were the perfect chance to revisit the city. I look forward to returning in November of 2012. Currently, Kathleen has raised $424! |

Meet Johanna Ecochard My name is Johanna Ecochard (on the left in the photo). I'm 29 and live in Charlottesville, VA (home of the University of VA). I'm a stay at home, single mom of a wonderful 6 year old daughter, Natalie and we live with 2 amazing puppies, Chelsea and Sargent. Sargent was adopted from St. Tammany at Unleashed 2011 and is the most amazing example of what this wonderful organization and it's staff stand for. He's loving, cares for those around him, and gives up his time and space for others (he shares his bed with Chelsea and lets her have his blanket and water). I'm also working toward my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. My two passions in life are helping people and animals. I've volunteered at ASPCA shelters and vets offices over the years and came across St. Tammany through a friend on Facebook. I immediately visited the website and wanted to help. Unleashed 2011 presented the perfect opportunity to be able to help monetarily and I love the fact that I know exactly where every cent is going and who it's benefiting. My goal this year is to donate and raise as much as possible for St. Tammany but also to collect and send food, etc. to the shelter at different times during the year! :-) I'm greatly looking forward to helping out as much as possible and communicating with staff and amazing people that I met at the 2011 event! Currently, Johanna has rasied $2989!!! |

Meet Larry & Ana My name is Larry Steinberg and I live in Wellington Florida. I am married and have 3 adult children, 2 grand children, 2 cats and 5 dogs. I have seen first hand the way state and county run animal shelters treat strays or unwanted pets and when Ian Somerhalder introduced me to St Tammany Humane Society, I was so impressed that I needed to get involved. Being a fan of Ian's I attended a TVD convention in Atlanta and met an amazing young woman. Her name is Ana Carvalho and she is from Lisbon, Portugal. She is a biology major at the University of Glamorgan in the UK and a fan of TVD and Ian. She dropped everything last March and travelled to Atlanta Georgia to give Ian a proposal to start an ISF chapter in Portugal. She returned to the US in October and spent a month traveling between Atlanta, NYC, New Orleans and Florida. We attended Unleashed 2011 and visited the Loggerhead Sea Turtle Rescue Facility, in Juno Beach Florida, where we met 2 Sea Turtles that had spent 4 months at their hospital, after being hit by boats and we got to see them released back into the sea. She has become a true friend and we have entered into a joint venture to support St Tammany Humane Society! Currently, They have raised $412! |
